Michigan State University Shooting Victims Identified!

One of the five injured people in Monday night’s mass shooting at Michigan State University that left three students dead has been recognized as a potential college student. Guadalupe Huapilla-Perez was listed as a wounded victim on a GoFundMe campaign created by Selena Huapilla-Perez, her younger sister.

“Lupe is a current Hospitality Business junior at MSU and student in the Michigan State University College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP),” Selena Huapilla-Perez wrote.

The three people killed in the incident are Alexandria Verner, 20, Brian Fraser, and Arielle Anderson, 19. The names of the hurt people have not been made public by the authorities.

The condition of one victim has changed from critical to stable after official reports indicated that all five injured victims were in that condition. It’s unclear if Huapilla-Perez was that pupil.

Anthony Dwyane McRae, a 43-year-old male without any known connections to the university, was the attacker. Police are still trying to determine what drove him to commit the crime.

According to reports on Thursday, the shooter remained silent when authorities approached him four miles from the institution hours later. McRae was armed with two 9mm rifles, extra ammunition, and a list of targets, including a school in New Jersey.

McRae shot himself to death after being told to display his hands by police. The survivor’s sister claimed they are from a South Florida immigrant family. As soon as the family learned what had occurred, they immediately traveled to Michigan to be with Guadalupe.

“She is a leader in the community and beyond,” the fundraiser reads. “Lupe is incredibly hard-working, focused, and ambitious, choosing a career path that’s never been explored in our family. It allows her to travel, learn, and challenge herself. She’s always one to stand up for our community and speak out for those marginalized voices like our own.”

According to Selena, bills will continue to mount because the family won’t be able to work while Guadalupe recovers.

“Doctors tell us that even in improving conditions, the process for a full recovery will take months of care and subsequent rehabilitation,” she said. “Our family is incredibly moved by the love and support others are pouring into us.”

“We joke that Lupe would never ask for help – but I know she would be extremely moved by the support of all,” the fundraiser continued. As of Thursday afternoon, the page had raised nearly $370,000.
