Penn Badgley seems to hold Blake Lively, his former co-star and girlfriend, in the highest regard. In an interview with Variety, Badgley discussed his previous relationship with Lively, with whom he had a love relationship for three years while they were co-stars of the 2007–2012 television series “Gossip Girl.”
“Beyond our relationship, I don’t think anybody was going to be interested in me publicly,” Badgley told the publication.
The actor said he views that time in his 20s as both “fun and fast-paced” while also having a “dark undercurrent that would bottom out in my later 20s” because of the enormous popularity that came their way. Badgley clarified when asked if any of the gloom was related to drug misuse.

“To be honest, I never struggled with substance,” he said. “Blake didn’t drink, and I think our relationship somehow saved me from forcing myself to go down that road.”
