About Manifest TV Show
When the 191 passengers of Montego Air Flight 828 landed in New York City in 2013, they learn that it has been five and a half years since their flight left Jamaica and that everyone on board was considered dead. Manifest follows these 191 people.
When Jeff Rake conceived the show, it was expected to run for six seasons, but the network announced in June 2021 that Manifest had been cancelled and there would be no fourth season.
Ben Stone (Josh Dallas) and Melissa Roxburgh (Melissa Roxburgh) star in the spooky drama, which also features Athena Karkanis (Ben’s wife) and J R Ramirez (Det. Jared Vasquez).
Passengers of Montego Air Flight 828, which reappeared after disappearing in the Bermuda Triangle, underwent a series of unexplained physical and mental changes as the show progressed.
NBC stated that the show had been canceled and that there will be no fourth season, leaving fans dissatisfied with the numerous unresolved questions that remained unaddressed at the end of season three.
Why Did NBC Decide to Cancel Manifest?
Although Manifest opened with respectable numbers, they slowly fell each year, which is usually the reason for the cancellation of a TV show. The expense of production could have been a factor, as shows that cost a lot to make but don’t get a lot of viewers are often cancelled.
Lockdowns and Covid-safe restrictions have slowed or halted the creation of television series as a result of Covid.
Fans were disappointed by the lack of closure and unfinished storylines following the abrupt and premature end of the program after season three, and Jeff Rake expressed his views on Twitter.
“My beloved Manifesters, I am heartbroken by NBC’s decision to cancel us,” he wrote in a Twitter message. The fact that we were forced to shut down in the middle is a devastating blow.
In search of a new place to call home. You, the readers, deserve an ending. Please accept my sincere gratitude for the kindness you have shown to both the cast and staff members. #SaveManifest.”
The Story Is Not Over Yet
Netflix added seasons one and two before the conclusion of season three, and they were instantly popular, rocketing to the top of the US Netflix chart in no time. This raised hopes among viewers that Netflix would salvage the show, as it had done with You and Lucifer, but the streaming provider decided not to continue the show for a third season.
“Well, my #manifesters, I’m sad to say that it’s the end of the line for now,” Josh Dallas wrote on Twitter after the show’s cancellation was announced. Throughout three seasons, we’ve had the privilege of telling this tale to our fans.
We hoped we could have been there for you at the end of the adventure. Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be.”
A Fourth and Final Season!
Netflix unexpectedly announced that Manifest had been renewed for a fourth and final season just two months after it premiered on the streaming service and had already surpassed all previous streaming rating records.
There is something ironic about the series’ death and rebirth because that’s the show’s plot itself,” creator Jeff Rake said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
There will be 20 episodes in this season’s finale, almost double the usual number, with most of the actors returning.
