‘Rick And Morty’ Co-Creator Justin Roiland Facing Domestic Violence Charges!

Justin Roiland Facing Domestic Violence Charges: According to a criminal complaint submitted in May 2020 by the Orange County District Attorney, Justin Roiland, the voice actor and co-creator of the animated comedy series “Rick and Morty,” has been charged with felony domestic violence in Orange County, California, in connection with an incident that occurred in 2020. For a hearing prior to trial, he showed up in court on Thursday.

In 2020, Roiland entered a not-guilty plea. One of Roiland’s lawyers said in a statement that he believes the lawsuit will be dropped because his client is innocent. Attorney T. Edward Welbourn stated, “We look forward to clearing Justin’s name and assisting him in moving forward as quickly as possible.

The criminal complaint in the case, which was acquired by NBC News, accuses Roiland, 42, of one felony crime of domestic abuse with bodily injury and one felony offense of false imprisonment by threat, violence, fraud, and/or deceit. The case has been covered publicly for the first time by NBC News.

According to the complaint, the incident took place on or around January 19, 2020, and it included an unnamed Jane Doe who was dating Roiland at the time. Records from the Orange County Superior Court show that in October 2020, Roiland entered a not-guilty plea to both charges. More than a dozen court proceedings, including pre-trial hearings, have taken place since then regarding the matter. A trial date has not yet been determined.

Roiland was charged in May 2020, according to the public documents that were available and that NBC News was able to access. Roiland was detained in August 2020, freed on a $50,000 bond, and charged in October 2020.

According to a protective order that was filed in October 2020 and recorded in the court minutes, Roiland is not allowed to harass, threaten, or spy on a person whose name is not known to NBC News.

The injunction also required Roiland to surrender any firearms he had or had in his possession and states that Roiland cannot approach the subject closer than 100 feet. The requester of the order, whose identity is unknown, submitted it. The order is valid until October 2023.

A protection order presently prevents the public from learning specifics of the case, including police body camera footage, police reports, abuse investigation reports, medical reports, and interview recordings. Additionally sealed is the document supporting Roiland’s arrest.

Roiland’s attorney acknowledged at the court on Thursday that the defendant has a plea offer at his disposal, but he did not go into further detail. A brief hearing was held, and it was decided to hold another one on April 27. Roiland received a summons to the hearing.

For “Rick and Morty,” one of the most well-liked adult television comedies, which has generated a billion-dollar media and merchandising phenomenon, Roiland is best known.
