According to her relatives, a prominent community figure and the proprietor of the well-known Oakland bakery Angel Cakes passed away after being placed in a medically induced coma due to injuries she incurred during a robbery.

The family and friends of Jen Angel released a statement, in part: “Jen believed in a world where everyone can live a dignified and joyful life and worked toward an ecologically sustainable and deeply participatory society in which all people have access to the things they need, those most directly affected by them makes decisions, and all people are free and equal.”

The statement says Angel’s organs will be donated per her wishes, with the medical team informing the family they will serve to help the lives of up to 70 people.

A robbery occurred on Webster between 20th and 21st streets in the parking lot next to Wells Fargo. Employees confirmed that the shop owner was the victim on Wednesday to ABC7 news.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the robbers obstructed her car before one of them broke in and stole something from inside. She tried to pursue the perpetrators but was dragged 50 feet after becoming stuck in the getaway car’s door.

According to the mayor, Angel worked tirelessly to convey kindness and love daily. Thao continued by saying that Angel’s influence on the neighborhoods of Oakland cannot ever be replicated.
