Kerdiles attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and played for the Wisconsin Badgers in the NCAA Division I hockey league.

The Anaheim Ducks selected him in the second round (36th overall) at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Kerdiles also made an important contribution to Team USA, helping them capture gold medals at the International Ice Hockey Federation’s U18 World Championship.

Kerdiles, a 29-year-old motorcycle rider, was killed after he collided with an SUV. Nic Kerdiles, a former hockey player who was once engaged to “Chrisley Knows Best” star Savannah Chrisley, died in a motorcycle accident on September 23, 2023. Kerdiles was pronounced deceased at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

“We’re heartbroken to hear the news about Nic Kerdiles, who died in a motorcycle accident this morning. An Irvine native, Nic became the first player from Orange County to play for the Ducks, in 2017. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family and loved ones,” they said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Nicolas Kerdiles, a former professional ice hockey player, died on September 23, 2023, at the age of 29. He died in a motorcycle accident in Nashville, Tennessee.

After riding past a stop sign and colliding with a BMW, he was involved in the accident. The incident occurred early in the morning, and neither driver was inebriated. Nicolas was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died as a result of the incident’s injuries.

His death devastated his family, friends, and the sports community. He was well-known for his contributions to the sport of hockey.

Nicolas Kerdiles was recognized on the ice for his energy and determination, where he established himself as a good player. His untimely death stunned the hockey world and beyond. His memory will live on, and he will be much missed by everybody who knew him.

Kerdiles moved to Irvine, California, at the age of six, where he learned and practiced hockey. With a small LA ice hockey club, he competed in the 2007 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament.

As a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he played two seasons of NCAA Division I hockey with the Wisconsin Badgers, leading them to the Broadmoor Trophy. As a result, he was voted the WCHA Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament’s Most Valuable Player in 2013.

Kerdiles was drafted in the second round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks, however, he did not play for the Ducks until about 2016-2017, spending most of his time with the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals.

In June 2017, he made his NHL debut against the Boston Bruins, and his team re-signed him to a one-year, two-way contract extension for $650,000.

On June 30, 2018, the Ducks traded Kerdiles to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for restricted free agent Chase De Leo. Nicolas Kerdiles has signed to a one-year, $650,000 contract with the Winnipeg Jets, with $650,000 guaranteed and an annual average salary of $650,000.
