Mitsuo and Emi Isayama welcomed Hajime Isayama into the world on August 29, 1986. The artist was born and raised in the town of Oyama in the Japanese prefecture of Oita. Hajime completed his education at Oita Prefecture’s Hitarinkou High School. After receiving his degree, he enrolled in the cartoon arts department’s manga design program at Kyushu Designer Gakuin.

The artist responded that he used to play a computer game named MUV LUV ALTERNATIVE when asked where the idea for Attack on Titans came from.
