On Thursday, publisher THQ Nordic said that the remade version of the classic survival horror game Alone in the Dark will be available on October 25. The publisher also revealed that the game’s twin protagonists would be played by actors Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, Free Guy) and David Harbour (Stranger Things, Black Widow).
There is currently a playable preview of the brand-new Alone in the Dark. On Thursday, a prologue for the game was made available for the Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC (through Steam). Players take on the role of Grace Saunders, a little girl trying to mail a letter in the prologue. During a livestream on Thursday, the creators said that the preamble does not feature any fighting and instead focuses on the ambiance and atmosphere of the upcoming Alone in the Dark.
When the whole game is released in October, players can choose between Harbour’s private eye Edward Carnby and Comer’s Emily Hartwood, as they work to solve the mysteries surrounding the eerie Derceto Manor and Emily’s missing uncle, Jeremy Hartwood.
Depending on which protagonist you play, other game characters will interact with you differently, and gamers will experience the tale differently, like Emily or Edward. Players will engage in “intense and tough” fighting, puzzle-solving, and clue discovery. Mikael Hedberg, the writer and game director for the upcoming Alone in the Dark, stated, “You will need to use every bullet you can find.” Players will have to use melee weapons or throwable things to battle if they run out of ammo in a proper survival horror manner.

Players can select how challenging the game’s puzzles will be. You may pick how much you want the game to assist you in finding clues and where to go next, according to how much you feel like a detective yourself, Hedberg added.

A new Alone in the Dark was unveiled in August of last year. A tale by Hedberg, whose writing credentials include Frictional Games’ Soma and Amnesia: The Dark Descent, is featured in the remake, an updated 1992 original. Characters, settings, and thematic components from the previous three Alone in the Dark games will all be included in the remake.
