yellowjackets’ Season 2 Everything We Know About!

Yellowjackets Season 2

Yellowjackets, a Showtime series that aired weekly in the fall of 2021 and the winter of 2022, was unquestionably one of the most talked about new television shows. Following their plane crash, Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson’s series about a high school ladies’ soccer team and the consequences of their time in the woods on those who survived have garnered critical acclaim and a devoted fan base for its stellar cast and myriad intriguing mysteries.

Few compared to the devastating bombshells released in the Season 1 finale, which aired in January 2022, even though it was loaded with twists throughout. After watching it live or binge-watching the series, you’re undoubtedly left with a slew of questions and an eagerness to see what comes next. Breaking down all we know about the future of the Yellowjackets series is a good way to alleviate the need for more.

Is there going to be a Yellowjackets Season 2?

Definitely. The Hollywood Reporter reported in December 2021 that Showtime has already ordered a second season of Yellowjackets before the first had even concluded. Because of the show’s critical praise and Showtime’s overwhelming success, it makes reasonable that the show is returning.

Some TV executives would have been up in the pit of the Antler Queen if fans hadn’t been given answers in the finale. I’m kidding, of course!

When Will Yellowjackets Season 2 Be Released?

To their credit, showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson finally broke their silence about Yellowjackets Season 2 in early May 2022, after keeping their plans for the sequel under wraps for several months.

The writers have been back at work for several months, and the team is “circling a late summer production start,” according to the two, who talked to Variety. Be assured that we will see more of the winter timeline in the past, despite any fears you may have.

“Movie magic” is what the show’s producers are preparing to do to bring the cold, snowy winter weather to life during the July production.

We’re crossing our hopes that the show’s return to production this summer will result in more episodes airing in late 2022 and into winter 2023, just like in Season 1.

According to an interview with Showtime Networks president of entertainment Gary Levine conducted with Vulture, the network is hoping for a mid- or late-2020s release date for the show. In addition to that, it would make for a spooky wintertime show.

Who in the Cast Is Returning for Yellowjackets Season 2?

There were a few losses in Season 1, but we can expect all of our favorite feral women to return in Season 2. Shauna, Misty, Natalie, and Taissa, played by Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, and Tawny Cypress, as well as their younger counterparts Sophie Nélisse, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, and Jasmin Savoy Brown, will return. Warren Kole, Sarah Desjardins, Rukiya Bernard, and Aiden Stoxx, who play the characters’ modern-day relatives, are expected to return.

After learning that Courtney Eaton plays Lottie, we can expect to see even more of her in the past as she heads the Let’s Eat Each Other campaign. If Liv Hewson’s Van is one of Lottie’s primary supporters, anticipate her to join the ranks as well.

Even though he was absent from the Season 1 finale, Javi (Luciano Leroux), who was played by Kevin Alves in the teen-aged Travis, should return, as should Coach Ben Scott (Steven Kruger), Akilah (Keeyah King), Mari (Alexa Barajas), and presumably Javi (Luciano Leroux). They haven’t been eaten or killed yet. (Yikes.)

Misty and her poisonous cigarette have been proven to be responsible for the death of Fixer/Reporter Jessica, played by Rekha Sharma. She will not be returning. Peter Gadiot was probably just another individual, no matter how many people speculated about his identity.

Ella Purnell and Jane Widdop’s Jackie and Laura Lee, two of the Yellowjackets’ most cherished colleagues, have also been mentioned by the show’s producers. When there are several timelines, there will always be an opportunity for flashbacks!

Are There Any New Cast Members in Yellowjackets Season 2?

Lottie, the adult counterpart of the Antler Queen, has been confirmed as a new cast member, but no other cast members have been announced. In addition to her, we’ve never met any of the other surviving Yellowjackets: Our sources at Thrillist revealed to us that the new season of the show will feature an increased number of mature survivors.

Even though the fates of the other survivors are still unknown, it sounds like the show’s producers are already thinking about who they’d like to cast as Lottie. Believe about which ’90s actors you think might be perfect for the job while you’re waiting.

Yellowjackets Season 2

After the Yellowjackets, we may also meet other characters, such as members of Lottie’s cult, in the future. Now that Misty, Shauna, Taissa, and Natalie have blood on their hands and two missing persons related to them, we could potentially meet some inquisitive investigators or Adam (Peter Gadiot) and Jessica Roberts’ (Rekha Sharma) family members.

What Will Yellowjackets Season 2 Be About?

Season 1’s bloodshed, cannibalism teasers, and unexpected turns could have led you to believe Yellowjackets was already disturbing enough. However, according to co-creator Ashley Lyle, Season 2 will “grow darker and weirder,” as she told Deadline.

There is speculation that this is because the show is nearing the 1996 timeline, where the survivors are in their cannibalistic, woodsy, feral state. Showrunners and writers have called this season “The Winter of Their Discontent,” after the John Steinbeck novel and a passage from Shakespeare’s Richard III, according to Variety.)

In addition to that, we’ll undoubtedly learn more about Lottie and her cult in the present day after what was revealed in the last moments of Season 1’s finale.

The death of Jackie has historically been seen as a watershed moment for the group. Many of them, like Shauna, suffered a traumatic loss, and their continued survival may push them to emotional lengths we haven’t seen yet.

Lottie’s apparent rise to power and taste for human flesh was exposed in the finale, which also showed that Jackie’s death occurred shortly after Lottie’s. As Shauna prepares to give birth, the cannibalism and body horror will likely increase, and the harsh winter will make life in the wilderness even more difficult.

As for the present, expect a fresh mystery involving Lottie’s cult to unfold. In an interview with Thrillist, the co-creators said we should expect to see an adult Lottie in the program, which will examine how the trauma of her time in the woods has affected her.

For several reasons, Bart Nickerson noted, “We’ve encountered characters so far in the present day that have tried to hold many of those experiences at a distance—and Lottie is perhaps the one that was the least able to do that in her life after coming home.”

If you’re curious about her cult’s intentions—from why they kidnapped Natalie to Travis’s murder—then you’re in for a treat. Nickerson informed us that he couldn’t be sure that Lottie was the one who ordered Travis’ death, so we’ll be eager to learn more about the case. Her cult may have grown out of control.

The future of Yellowjackets isn’t entirely apparent due to a lack of confirmed information. We’ll be updating this site as new information becomes available, so in the meanwhile, check out these books, series, and movies for more Yellowjackets-like storylines and characters.
