Her identical twin brother, who goes by the name M Lamar, is the actor that appeared in Orange Is the New Black in the role of a younger version of Sophia Burset before she transitioned.

She attended the Alabama Institution of Fine Arts in Birmingham, a boarding and day school serving students from across the state. Initially, she was interested in creative writing; however, as time passed, she realized that her true passion was dancing, which led to her changing her academic focus.

In several interviews, Cox discussed her challenges as a child when she was already uncertain about her gender identification. She claimed that neither her professors nor her friends assisted her, which she needed at any point in her life. Instead, one of Cox’s teachers warned her mother that if she didn’t immediately enrol him in therapy, her son would “end up in New Orleans wearing a dress.” Since then, Cox has devoted her life to raising awareness about the challenges and discrimination that members of the trans community are subjected to.

“We are aware that the way we chose to relate to one another was an inspiration to a significant number of people, particularly transgender individuals, giving them faith that they too may find love of this nature. That hope, the hope for love, has not dimmed for me in the face of this breakup; rather, it has been strengthened by the experience.

Laverne said, “knowing that we are both capable of giving and receiving love with this degree of kindness, respect, trust, tenderness, and intensity has been healing and life-affirming for both of us.” “I am very thankful that both of us were willing to give love a chance and for every moment we spent together. Because of this, we have both developed in many other ways. At this point, all that’s left to do is go our separate ways. We are interested in ending our relationship in a way that recognizes and appreciates the depth of our connection and the love we shared.
