She is too slim, was one of the less offensive comments. It irritates me.

It turned out that Swift was finally upset by it as well. Swift discusses her history with eating disorders for several minutes in one of the Netflix movie’s most enlightening and unexpected passages.

Swift is heard saying in the voiceover that “it’s not good for me to see images of myself every day” after being photographed confronting a phalanx of cameras as she leaves her front door.

Swift acknowledges that there have been instances in the past when she’s seen “a picture of me where I feel like I looked like my tummy was too big, or… someone commented that I looked pregnant… ” even though she claims “it’s only occurred a few times, and I’m not in any way proud of it.” and that will only cause me to stop eating and starve temporarily.

“However, Lana (Wilson, the movie’s director) truly makes sense in how she delivers the story. Some so many people could discuss this subject better than I could, so I’m not as vocal about it as I should be.

But I can only speak from my own experience. And I approached eating with the same mindset I did everything else in my life: If I got a pat on the back, I took that as a good sign. I considered punishment to be wrong if I received it.

She elaborates on the defining impact of one early tabloid torpedo on her in the solitude of a hotel suite. When she was 18 years old, she appeared on a magazine cover for the first time, she recalls.

And it was due to something I was wearing that made my lower stomach look round rather than flat. So I recorded that as a penalty. Then, while I was in the dressing room during a photo shoot, a magazine employee would exclaim, “Oh, yeah, this is so incredible that you can fit into the sample sizes.

Usually, we have to adjust the gowns before we can wear them on you, but we can do that today! I interpreted that as a pat on the back when you notice that enough times, you adjust everything to reward and punishment, including your own body.

She is hesitant. She responds slowly, “I don’t believe I’ve ever really wanted to talk about that, and I’m pretty uncomfortable talking about it now. But she adds, “I believe it makes sense in the context of everything else that I was doing or not doing in my life” for it to be in the movie.
