Killers Of The Flower Moon

The director Martin Scorsese is most frequently linked to gangster and wise guy movies from the past. However, the director is branching into a new genre with his upcoming Western Killers of the Flower Moon.

The movie, an adaptation of the nonfiction book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and The Birth of the FBI by journalist David Grann, depicts the tale of at least twenty Osage Tribal members murdered in Oklahoma in the 1920s.

Grann’s book’s film rights were sold in 2016, a year before it was even released, but the eagerly awaited film’s production didn’t start until 2021. Martin Scorsese was hired after several directors indicated an interest in the undertaking without formally committing. The COVID-19 pandemic caused the show to be postponed until mid-2021 from its original March 2020 start date. Here is what we currently know about the project.

What’s the Plot of Killers of the Flower Moon?

Killers of the Flower Moon recounts the 1921–1925 plot to murder over sixty Osage tribal members. The Osage Indian Tribe of Oklahoma was granted the opportunity to benefit from massive oil resources in the late 19th century. The Osage nation was one of the wealthiest in the world due to their tens of millions of dollars in self-made wealth.

The affluence made the federal government uncomfortable enough to appoint Caucasian guardians to “assist” in financial management and provoked homicidal envy among other communities who hadn’t struck it so rich. When a wealthy Osage woman was found dead in the woods in 1921, these negative feelings turned violent. Sixty affluent Osage tribal members died by 1925.

Agent Tom White of the FBI discovered a complicated conspiracy by local cattleman William Hale to capture Osage oil. Hale even persuaded his nephew Ernest Burkhart to marry Mollie Kile, an Osage lady, to strengthen his property claim. Scorsese will likely make this tale of racism, murder, betrayal, and greed dark and suspenseful.
