The Steelers trailed 7-6 with 22 seconds remaining in a defensive scoreless fight. Bradshaw, the team’s quarterback, attempted to pass the ball on the snap, but Raiders defensive linemen Tony Cline and Horace Jones were on his neck. He scrambled to his left and delivered the ball in the direction of John Fuqua.
However, Fuqua was unable to receive the ball because Raiders safety Jack Tatum collided with him, knocking Fuqua to the ground and sending the ball backward. Harris, who was quick on his feet, snagged the fast-moving ball before it hit the ground and sprinted into the end zone for a remarkable but contentious touchdown.
