After more than ten years of marriage, the spouse of “Imagine Dragons” lead vocalist Dan Reynolds has formally filed for divorce.
Aja Volkman is requesting that their relationship be formally and legally dissolved, according to fresh court documents that The Blast has seen. After the pair announced their separation in September 2022, Volkman filed for the dissolution of their marriage.
Daughter Arrow, 10, twin girls Gia and Coco, 5, and son Valentine, 2, are all of the former couple’s children.
“I am saddened to say that after many beautiful years together Aja and I have separated,” the singer tweeted, announcing the breakup. Adding, “Being great parents to our children is our number one priority. Thank you for always supporting us with love and care for all these years.”

It’s interesting that the pair opted to reconcile after splitting up in 2018. The on-again, off-again combo even co-wrote the song “Bad Liar” after they mended fences. The lead singer of the indie-pop group Nico Vega, Aja Volkman, is also a musician. When they were both students at Utah’s Brigham Young University, the two first connected and soon started dating. They wed in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas in 2011.

As for custody, most likely the couple will split the time with their children. Volkman addressed the famous singer’s parenting in an Instagram posting, saying, “
Aja Volkman said, “I’m proud of you @danreynolds I’m proud of your humility and ability to still show up as the basketball-coaching baby-loving Dad that you are, I know that it’s been a crazy road. It’s killed us both in so many moments. Last year we killed each other and now we are rebuilding.”
Dan and Aja have remained amicable and are still co-parenting their kids despite their split. In fact, they even shared a stage at a charity event in 2019. Dan has been vocal about his struggles with depression and anxiety, and Aja has advocated for mental health awareness. In 2019, Aja opened up to People, saying, “I think the biggest thing is to have empathy and compassion for each other. You must be able to step outside of yourself and see things from the other person’s perspective.”
