The third episode of the Rocky spin-off story, Creed III, is soon to be released, and Michael B. Jordan not only stars in it but also makes his directorial debut. And it appears that the actor found inspiration for this new Adonis Creed journey in an unexpected area.
Jordan recently discussed some of the novel and unusual influences for the movie during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon:
“It was a gift and a curse. There’ve been eight other movies before me, and we’ve shot – you can shoot a boxing match in so many different ways. I think ’cause I was kinda put in a corner, it forced me to be more creative and really think outside the box of how to make the fights different… and I had a huge Japanese anime influence on a lot of my fighters.
It’s tough. You got a mouthpiece in sometimes, you got gloves. You’re always depending on so many people. Your team is everything. So, to be able to be in the middle of a boxing scene, honestly, it’s sometimes easier because I can direct while I’m acting. If I need to move you upstage a little bit, I just move a little bit like this, and then I get the shot that I need.”

What Is Creed Ill About?
The Rocky film series was revived in 2015 by Sylvester Stallone by creating a new tale centered on Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis, who was set on the road to winning the world title. Concerning the infamous fight between Ivan Drago and his father, the sequel Creed II had Michael B. Jordan‘s character take on Ivan Drago’s son. The past is now catching up with Adonis as the trilogy finally ends.
Adonis Creed has been thriving in his career and family life after ruling the boxing world. When Damian, a boyhood buddy, and last boxing prodigy, emerges from hiding after serving a lengthy jail sentence, he is desperate to demonstrate that he merits a chance in the ring.
The confrontation between the two ex-friends is more than just a brawl. Adonis must face Damian, a fighter with nothing to lose, to settle the score, risking his future in the process.
Jonathan Majors, Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Tony “Bomber” Bellew, and Florian Munteanu will appear with Jordan. Unfortunately, Sylvester Stallone won’t be appearing. Thus, Rocky won’t be appearing in this one. On March 3, Creed III debuts in theaters.
