Bebe Rexha says she felt “discouraged” after seeing comments on social media about her weight. On Sunday, the 33-year-old singer posted a picture of a search bar on a TikTok video of her that read “Bebe Rexha weight.” The search bar shows up based on what people are searching for and what is popular.
“Seeing that search bar is so upsetting,” she wrote on Twitter. “I’m not angry because it’s the truth. I did gain weight. But it just sucks. Thank you to everyone who has always loved me.”
“My weight has always been hard for me. She also said, “A bitch likes to eat.” One of Rexha’s fans then told her that her photos were recently used in weight loss ads, which she said was “just messed up.” “It doesn’t matter as long as YOU are happy!!!” said one fan. “Don’t go hungry and lose your happiness!”
Rexha replied, “Every day, I work on myself. Just a little bit down right now.” The “Break My Heart” singer has talked about her problems with how she sees her body in a teary social media video from December 2021. In the TikTok video, Rexha talked about how gaining weight has hurt her self-esteem. She said it’s hard for her to be “jolly” during the holidays because she doesn’t “feel good in the skin.” Many celebrities are gaining weight, like Kristen Storms you must check it out.
She started the video by saying, “So it’s the holidays, and I know we’re all supposed to be happy and like, ‘Yay, it’s the holidays,’ which I am, kind of.” Rexha then said that she was the “heaviest” she had ever been. She added, “I just weighed myself, and I don’t feel comfortable telling you how much I weigh because I’m embarrassed.” I feel gross like I don’t belong in my own body.” Rexha said she wanted to stop using social media because of how she felt about her weight.
“I haven’t been posting as much because I don’t feel good in my own skin, and when I don’t feel good, I don’t want to post. That’s why I haven’t been posting as much in the last year or so as I used to. “I think all the body positivity that comes from me comes from a place of pain and confusion,” she said at the time, adding, “I don’t know how to help myself or love myself anymore.”
Rexha isn’t new to being open and honest on social media. She says online that people should be happy with their bodies and accept themselves. She shared a video to TikTok in July 2021 of herself dancing in lingerie to Nicki Minaj’s “Good Form.”
