What is the Reason for Alistair’s Weight Loss?

In the episode, Alistair mentioned that he became a vegetarian and dropped weight after consulting a nutritionist.

“He’s like, ‘Yep, we’re gonna detox.’ I’m like a soldier,” Alistair said. “’Okay, let’s go.’ When I met him, I instantly knew this guy has knowledge, so we started working, and I started taking these supplements in a reasonably high dosage, which you can just do on an empty stomach. And after a couple of weeks, my diet, my appetite changed.”

In the past, Alistair had been known to regularly consume horse meat and eat steak at eight in the morning to gain muscle. However, he said that his diet altered rather rapidly.

“When I spoke to Julian [the nutritionist], I asked him what’s happening,” Alistair remarked“I don’t want to eat my steak anymore, but I want to eat my steak because I want muscles.”

“And he said, ‘You had parasites in your body. We gave you the supplements, you start detoxing your body,’ and these supplements are just simple seaweed,” the former fighter stated.

“It’s not me who needs to eat meat, it’s the parasites that influence me, work through me to make me think I want to eat meat, but it’s not me. And once you get rid of them, you don’t care,” Alistair added.

Alistair Also Announced His Retirement!

The 43-year-old Alistair decided to stop fighting during the podcast appearance, as well as during the interview.

“I actually just decided to stop fighting,” Alistair said casually. “This is not my thing anymore. It’s been 25 years right? We’re going to do some other cool stuff now.”

Alistair was referring to the fact that he will continue to promote health in the same manner as he did during his time on the program.

Alistair, a former champion in Strikeforce and DREAM, left the UFC in March 2021. He had a 47-19 record during his professional career and established himself as a dependable fighter.

Given that Alistair has purposefully gained strength over most of his fighting career, it is possible that some fans were disturbed by the sight of him looking so thin. Thankfully, his new look was merely an attempt to reset his body after a physically demanding career and had little to do with any health issues.
