Nevada sheriff’s office incident report, actor Jeremy Renner was trying to stop his snow-removal tractor from slipping and injuring his grown nephew on New Year’s Day when he was dragged beneath the vehicle and crushed.
The snowcat vehicle, which runs on a track, started sliding sideways after the 52-year-old “Avengers” star used it to pull his nephew’s truck out of the snow, according to the redacted Washoe County Sheriff’s Office report, filed on Friday. The parking brake was not engaged and would have stopped the snowcat vehicle, which runs on a track.
The report’s conclusion, which CNN obtained through a public documents request on Tuesday, states that “The Pistenbully snow groomer began slipping, leading Renner to depart the vehicle without deploying the emergency brake.”

When Renner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”
The report also mentions that the snowcat’s cab’s brake indicator light wasn’t working and that “mechanical issues may have played a factor in this collision.”
According to the report, the nephew was able to assist Renner while waiting for assistance. Renner was flown to the hospital, where he spent more than two weeks receiving treatment in the intensive care unit and having at least two surgeries. Actor Was Reportedly Pushed Under By A Moving Track
According to the incident report, Renner told detectives on January 5 while in the hospital that the incident started on New Year’s Day when he towed his nephew’s truck out of the actor’s driveway after it became stuck in the snow.
The snowplow started “sliding sideways” after dragging the truck into the street, then “it started to tumble down the hill,” according to Renner. According to Renner, who told detectives that is when he leaped out of the snowcat.
“Once he was off the Pistenbully, he realized it was heading directly toward (his nephew),” the report reads. “He feared the Pistenbully was going to hit (his nephew), so he decided to attempt to stop or divert the Pistenbully.”
Renner had to get onto the snowplow’s moving track to get into the cab, and the report says he was “quickly sucked under the left side track.” According to a 911 call log that CNN was able to obtain, Renner was “totally crushed under a massive snowcat (vehicle),” had “severe (difficulty) breathing,” and “the right side of his chest… collapsed – upper torso is crushed.”
According to the report, “The Pistenbully rolled over him and continued down the road.” “As (his nephew and others) assisted him until medical personnel came on the scene, he lay on the ground and concentrated on his breathing.” In the event, Renner, who plays the superhero archer Hawkeye in the Marvel film and television series “Universe,” reportedly shattered more than 30 bones.
