Reese Witherspoon had thought back on the event from 2013 when she and her husband, Jim Roth, were detained by police after he was suspected of driving under the influence (DUI).
The Big Little Lies star was handcuffed after she refused an officer’s instruction to remain in the vehicle and was charged with disorderly conduct. Roth admitted guilt for a DUI first offense. Witherspoon spoke on Good Morning America two weeks after the arrest and referred to the situation as “absolutely inappropriate.”
“It’s just completely unacceptable, and we are so sorry and embarrassed,” she said. I think we made a mistake, and it was something that will never happen again… “We thought we were fine to drive, and we were not. We know better, and we shouldn’t have done that.”
In a recent interview for her I Weigh podcast, Jameela Jamil said to her, “You apologized and embarrassed yourself in a way that was so f***ing refreshing to me. I appreciate your apology.
“But, I did something idiotic,” Reese said, explaining why she made a public apology. She later added: “It was so embarrassing and dumb. But, you know what… it turns out I breathe air. I bleed the same way. I make dumb decisions. I make great decisions. I’m just a human being.”
Witherspoon discussed various topics in the same interview, including postpartum depression, women in leadership, and mental health. Jamil is one of the celebrities scheduled to perform at Lady Gaga‘s One World: Together at the Home concert tonight (18 April), which will be broadcast worldwide.
