Ratatouille Cast: The American computer-animated comedy-drama movie Ratatouille was released by Walt Disney Pictures in 2007 and was created by Pixar Animation Studios.
The seventh Pixar production was written and directed by Brad Bird, who succeeded Jan Pinkava in 2005, and produced by Brad Lewis from a concept that Pinkava originally came up with. Bird and Jim Capobianco are also credited with creating the film’s plot.
The title alludes to the French cuisine ratatouille, served after the movie, and to the main character’s species, a rat. The story, set in Paris, centers on a rat who aspires to be a chef and works to realize his ambition by forming an unexpected partnership with a restaurant’s garbage boy.
The movie features Patton Oswalt as Remy, an anthropomorphic rat who enjoys cooking; Lou Romano as Alfredo Linguini, a young garbage boy who befriends Remy; Ian Holm as Skinner, the head chef of Auguste Gusteau’s restaurant; Janeane Garofalo as Colette Tatou, a rôtisseur at Gusteau’s restaurant and the only female chef on the staff, Peter O’Toole as Anton Ego. Ratatouille Plot: What Will Happen In It?
Remy, a young rodent with exceptional taste and smell, aspires to work in the kitchen like his late hero Auguste Gusteau. The other members of his colony, such as his father Django, the clan chief, and brothers Émile and Émile, are just interested in food for survival.
Remy and Émile unintentionally tell the elderly woman that the rats dwell in her attic outside of Paris, which forces the clan to flee and causes Remy to become separated from the others. He wanders with the encouragement of a fictitious Gusteau and ends himself on the restaurant’s roof.
Alfredo Linguini, the restaurant’s new garbage boy, is trying to restore a soup he wrecked when Remy sees him and steps in to correct his errors. Linguini observes Remy in the act but conceals him from Skinner, the new restaurant owner and former sous-chef of Gusteau.
When the soup is unintentionally served and is a hit, Colette Tatou, the sole female chef at the establishment, persuades Skinner to keep Linguini and preserve Gusteau’s adage that “Anyone can cook.”
Skinner then confronts Linguini for tampering with the soup. Skinner sees Remy and tells Linguini to take him outside and kill him after ordering him to duplicate the soup or lose his job. When they are alone, Linguini learns that Remy can comprehend him, and he persuades Remy to assist him in the kitchen.
Remy pulls on Linguini’s hair, hiding under his toque, controlling him like a marionette. They make the soup again at the restaurant and continue with the cooking. Although Colette trains Linguini reluctantly, she gradually learns to value someone who follows her counsel.
Colette tries to see Remy, but Remy forces Linguini to kiss her instead. Django tries to persuade Remy that it is difficult to change people’s dislike of rats, but Remy claims that “change is nature” after locating Émile and rejoins the clan.
