After the premiere of the first four episodes of the revival, NBC decided to give Night Court a second season. Since its January 17 debut, Night Court has reportedly attracted 25.7 million viewers in delayed viewing, according to NBC.
The first episode received the most viewers overall and in the ad-friendly 18-49 demographic, making it the No. 1 broadcast premiere of the 2022–2023 season. Since The Conners debuted on ABC in 2018, it has attracted the most viewers of any comedy premiere.
Since the 2017 premiere of Will & Grace, it was NBC’s finest comedy debut. The late Harry Stone’s daughter, judge Abby Stone (Melissa Rauch), is portrayed in the new television series Night Court when she takes over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court.
She struggles to maintain order among the eccentric and cynical members of the cast throughout Season 1, especially former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding (John Laroquette).
“It’s so rewarding to have audiences respond and return to a show in which they have such hot feelings, and, more broadly, it’s testament to how the broadcast is still a huge driver of communal viewing,” said Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Television, and Streaming.

“A huge thank you to our studio partners, a wonderful cast, incredibly talented writers and producers, and a crew that has transformed a lower Manhattan courtroom into a true family.”
“The results are in, and Night Court’s ‘new boot’ is a success! The biting wit of the series elevates it to weekly must-watch status, according to Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group. “We’re ecstatic that the court will continue to meet and resume with new cases in season two.
