This year will (officially) see the release of the upcoming Mortal Kombat game, which will be called Mortal Kombat 1 and take the series into the past. Mortal Kombat 9 will be launched on September 19 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X,

Introduced Mortal Kombat 1 Cast

Games and renowned series creator NetherRealm Studios. A few well-known characters are confirmed to be returning in Mortal Kombat 1’s first trailer, including Shang Tsung, Liu Kang, Raiden, Scorpion, Kitana, Mileena, and Sub-Zero. But because Mortal Kombat 1 is set far back in MK’s history, they don’t look like the combatants that players may be familiar with from the previous 30 years.

IGN tweeted that Warner Bros. Discovery and NeatherRealm announced Mortal Kombat 1, introducing a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe and reimagined versions of iconic MK characters. You can see below:

NetherRealm and publisher Warner Bros. call MK1 “a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe created by the Fire God Liu Kang,” with “reimagined versions of iconic characters.” The developer promises a new fighting system, game modes, and the series’ iconic fatalities, some of which can be seen in the debut trailer above. Mortal Kombat 1 will also include a new Kameo Fighters feature, described as “a unique roster of partners to assist you in battle.”

On Thursday, 18 May Reveal trailer was released by Mortal Kombat. The latest Mortal Kombat game from NetherRealm was published in April 2019. Through 2020, the creator released an expansion pack called Aftermath and introduced 12 new characters to the cast. After providing more than two years of maintenance for Mortal Kombat 11, the studio declared in 2021 that it was “focusing on its next project.”

Kronika was defeated by veteran villain Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath and her time-bending skills were taken. However, Mortal Kombat hero Liu Kang tricks Tsung into believing he has traveled back in time, defeats him, and steals Kronika’s powers for himself.

He then plots to start a New Era of the Mortal Kombat timeline (and bring his numerous pals back). Then, to prepare the original Kung Lao for upcoming Mortal Kombat matches, Liu Kang returns in time.
