Lawsuit Claims Woman Death Stemmed From Disneyland Fall!

In a complaint, it is alleged that workers at Disneyland laughed at a disabled lady struggling to exit a Jungle Cruise boat before she slipped, shattered her leg, and succumbed to an infection five months later.

The Southern California News Group reported this week that the family of Joanne Aguilar, 66, of Ventura, filed the case against the Walt Disney Company, its theme park business, and Disneyland in federal court in November.

According to the news organization, Disney disputed the accusations in a statement sent to the court on December 29 and stated that it wanted a jury trial. The lawsuit claims that Aguilar traveled to Disneyland on August 22, 2021, with her adult daughters, Andrea Mallul and Zenobia Hernandez.

According to the lawsuit, Aguilar chose to embark with the help of her daughters after being informed by Disneyland staff at the Jungle Cruise ride that a wheelchair-accessible boat was not available.

The girls tried to assist Aguilar in getting out of the boat after staff “installed small unsecured blocks on top of the existing steps within the boat to lessen the height of each step,” according to the lawsuit.

It says that instead of helping, staff members laughed and chuckled as they observed Aguilar struggle. According to the report, she lost her balance on the blocks, fell backward, and broke the femur in her right leg.

Aguilar underwent surgery at a nearby hospital, where she stayed for ten days before transferring to a rehab facility. According to the lawsuit, she remained at the facility for five months, contracted an infection, underwent septic shock, and passed away on January 29, 2022.

According to the lawsuit, the Americans with Disabilities Act was broken, and there was a wrongful death. It demands financial compensation for pain, mental anguish, humiliation, medical expenditures, and burial costs. U.S. District Judge Cormac J Carney was given the case this month at the Santa Ana courthouse.
