TMZ first reported Depp’s cameo appearance a few days before the show, and PEOPLE later confirmed it.
The former outlet was informed by a source that Rihanna and her team had “invited” Depp to participate in the program and that both teams were “excited to make it happen.” Depp is the “first male to take the role in Savage X Fenty show history,” according to TMZ.

Despite the excitement and support Depp’s fashion campaign has received from admirers (including Paris Hilton, who left a fire emoji remark on his Instagram picture), some have spoken out against the contentious partnership.
Olly Alexander, a member of Years and Years, tweeted his displeasure with the Grammy winner’s reputation.
He quoted PopCrave’s announcement on November 3 and included a distorted sorrowful face. Despite his prior work with the company, which included a paid Instagram partnership in February, Alexander responded to a fan who said, “But, “Savage X Fenty” is you baby……. you wear it so beautifully,” by saying, “Thank you but with this news I won’t be wearing it anymore.”

Following his victories in his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard, Depp has made several on-screen appearances in addition to Rihanna’s celebrity-studded fashion show.
He unexpectedly made an appearance at the MTV VMAs in August, making a quick cameo early in the show while having his face digitally inserted into the helmet of a floating moon person. “And what about that? I required the job. “During one of his sketches, Depp told the audience.
The appearance came months after a seven-person jury, which largely sided with Depp, found that Heard had disparaged the actor in a 2018 op-ed for the Washington Post about domestic abuse, even though she didn’t specifically name him. Damages totaling more than $10 million were given to him. On the other hand, Heard received a $2 million judgment in one of her three defamation countersuit claims.
Judge Penney Azcarate denied Heard’s request for a mistrial. After Heard formally appealed the decision, Depp’s legal counsel declared that they would also be appealing the decision in Heard’s countersuit. Depp’s attorneys submitted paperwork last week to appeal Heard’s $2 million countersuit, claiming the judgment was “erroneous.”
