Is August Alsina Sick: Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on September 3, 1992, August Anthony Alsina Jr. is a former Def Jam Recordings artist. He released his first mixtape, The Product, in 2012 and his first extended play (EP), Downtown: Life Under the Gun, under The-Dream’s Radio Killa Records and Def Jam Recordings in 2013. Following the platinum-selling singles “I Luv This Shit” (featuring Trinidad James) and “No Love “‘s success, Alsina released his debut studio album, “Testimony,” in 2014.
This Thing Called Life, released in 2015, came after the album. In 2019, he released the EP Forever and a Day following his departure from Def Jam and a protracted hiatus. Product III: State of Emergency, Alsina’s third album, was released in 2020. It was accompanied by a five-part documentary series about his life experiences, family, and health. It was made possible by a widely reported “entanglement” with Jada Pinkett Smith, an actress.

August revealed that he had a genetic liver disease to his fans back in 2015. In a conversation with Jada Pinkett Smith, who he was also romantically involved with, the rapper disclosed his illness. He clarified that it is an autoimmune condition that, based on family history, runs in his family.

August Alsina Shares Health Update After Losing Ability To Walk
Despite his ongoing struggle with a severe autoimmune disease, August Alsina keeps a positive outlook.
Just two months after being hospitalized due to a loss of mobility, the 27-year-old singer gave his fans a health update on Monday (September 23), outlining his recovery process.
“Update; My doctors have started me on my iv antibody Immunotherapy. In short form, it’s like chemo but, instead, for my immune system. Only in this case, not killing the cells, but encouraging my nervous system & body to rebuild.😅🤷🏽♂️(I don’t know. I’m still learning),” August captioned a video of him singing Audra Mae’s “Forever Young.”
“I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been tough on my body, but there are necessary steps to make progress,” he continued. “iLLness is so humbling & I often find myself singing this song of affirmation to myself every day, so I figured I’d share that same love, affirmation, and motivation with you, whoever may need it. As fans know, August was hospitalized back in July after losing his ability to walk. “Hiiii guys!! 😂 It’s me being my most awesome, weirdly great self. 🤦🏽♂️ I’m here with the stitch 🗣 & to also apologize for not being able to make the essence fest gig last night”,” he captioned an Instagram video of himself at the time, explaining that he woke up unable to walk due to nerve damage caused by his autoimmune disease.”
