Jimmy Fallon Early Life

Jimmy Fallon was born on September 19, 1974, in Brooklyn, New York’s Bay Ridge district. Fallon attended the Roman Catholic school St. Mary of the Snow. While at school, he served as an altar boy and briefly considered becoming a priest. When Fallon began to get more interested in comedy by listening to the Dr. Demento show on the radio, he outgrew his desire to be a devout person. Fallon developed an obsession with Saturday Night Live, as many teenagers do. He performed bits from the show with his sister in front of their parents and friends.

Throughout his four years of high school at Saugerties High School, he participated in the majority of the theatrical plays. In 1992, he received his high school diploma from Saugerties. Fallon studied in Albany, New York’s The College of Saint Rose. He performed stand-up comedy on the weekends. He moved to Los Angeles at the age of 21 to start a full-time comedy career, leaving college in 1995, one semester before he was set to graduate.

Jimmy Fallon Career

Jimmy moved to Los Angeles, where he joined The Groundlings improv troupe and began honing his stand-up routine. He frequently performed stand-up at the renowned Improv, where he was paid $7.50 a set—a sum that didn’t even cover the expense of parking.

In 1997, Fallon tried out for Saturday Night Live for the first time, but he was rejected. At 23, Fallon successfully landed his second audition for SNL. SNL auditions are infamously nerve-wracking and challenging. He heard from several people at the audition that the show’s creator Lorne Michaels hardly ever laughed during them. Fallon performed excellently on stage. In a “celebrity walk-a-thin” sketch, he impersonates well-known comedians like Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld. Michael chuckled. He was chosen to join the cast for the 1998–1999 period. The most prominent impressionist on the show was Fallon.

Fallon initially believed he would spend three years at SNL, much as John Belushi did. Nevertheless, he was convinced to stay when, in 2000, he and Tina Fey were given control of the Weekend Update. Fallon and Justin Timberlake co-starred in the sketch “The Barry Gibb Talk Show” as musicians Barry and Robin Gibb during Fallon’s latter years on Saturday Night Live. This was the start of a lengthy friendship and partnership with Timberlake. Until the 2004 season, Fallon was a cast member of Saturday Night Live. He is well-liked by SNL viewers and has been dubbed the best cast member since Phil Hartman.

Fallon presided over the MTV Video Music Awards in 2002. During his opening monologue, Fallon parodied the music videos of Eminem, Avril Lavigne, The White Stripes, Enrique Iglesias, Dave Matthews Band, and Nelly. Jimmy continued his acting career after leaving Saturday Night Live with roles in films like Fever Pitch, Factory Girl, Ted 2, Jem and the Holograms, iCarly, 30 Rock, Family Guy, Taxi, and Whip It.

He succeeded Conan O’Brien as host of the television program Late Night with Conan O’Brien in 2009 after it was rebranded as Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. NBC said in April 2013 that Jimmy had been chosen to succeed Jay Leno as host of The Tonight Show after the 2014 winter Olympics. Except for the original host Steve Allen, Fallon is the first host in The Tonight Show’s history to assume the permanent host role without first acting as a “Guest Host.” Before him, Jack Parr, Jack Carson, and Jay Leno served as guest hosts for their respective hosts, Steve Allen.

Jimmy Fallon’s Personal Life

During his film Fever Pitch production, Fallon got to know Nancy Juvonen, who founded Flower Films with Drew Barrymore. They got together in May 2007. In August 2007, Fallon fell on one knee on the dock of Juvonen’s New Hampshire house. Their wedding took place on December 22, 2007. They have a golden retriever named Gary Frick and two daughters named Winnie Rose and Francis Cole. Gary has made an appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s Late Night.

Fallon was selected for People Magazine’s 50 Most Eligible Bachelors before marriage. In 2002, People Magazine named Fallon one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World. He received the most votes to succeed David Letterman in elementary school. He appeared as a guest host on David Letterman in June 2003.

Jimmy later admitted he couldn’t afford to buy in 2002, but he wisely did so because of Lorne’s counsel. He married Nancy Juvonen, and they started purchasing adjacent properties. For instance, in 2014, they spent $725,000 on a studio unit on the top floor. A one-bedroom apartment next to the studio that was purchased for $1.35 million a few months earlier was in addition to the acquisition in the nine-story, about 35-unit complex.

The flats were eventually united to provide a six-bedroom, 5,000-square-foot apartment. Five apartments cost them a total of $5.8 million. Jimmy and Nancy sold their building in March 2021 for $15 million. Fallon and his wife are Hamptons homeowners.
