Dwayne The Rock Johnson $3B Kidnapping Lawsuit

Online rumors about The actor and professional wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson being named a defendant in a $3 billion kidnapping lawsuit started circulating in April 2023.

The social media claim that received the most attention was made on TikTok on April 24, 2023. The video gained much traction on the platform and had over 675,000 views when posted.

On Twitter and Reddit, we discovered articles regarding the lawsuit that cited Johnson. The day before the popular TikTok video, Johnson also published a message on his Facebook fan page. The Facebook post has received over 3,900 reactions at the time of this writing. You can see the post below:

Johnson was, in fact, mentioned in the case. We asked his boss for a response, and if we do, we’ll update this fact check.

We discovered the complaint was initially filed in the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, on October 8, 2022, by using the Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) tool. Federal cases in the counties of New York, Bronx, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, and Sullivan are heard by that court.

The order granting In Forma Pauperis (IFP) status was mailed to the plaintiff’s address on March 1, 2023, as of the time of this writing, making that date the most recent filing in the case docket. The case was not on the court’s schedule of events for the week of May 1, 2023. The court’s support desk directed us to the case’s docket when we inquired about upcoming judicial actions.

The plaintiff requested $3 billion in relief in the document. One of the many defendants identified in the case was Johnson. Celebrities like Eminem, Naomi Campbell, and Michael Jordan were among the 23-page list of defendants, which also included businesses like Verizon, Bank of America, and Universal Studios, as well as law enforcement organizations like the FBI, Dona Ana County Sheriff, and Las Cruces Police Department in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

An ex-pro wrestler and her two young children were mentioned as the plaintiffs in the lawsuit. Before Impact Wrestling, the woman promoted professional wrestling for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, now known as Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. The plaintiffs were described as representing themselves pro se in court filings, which means they were doing so legally. We have recently covered Michael J. The woman claimed that her ex-husband pursued her and her two children while he was on active probation for family violence against her, according to a timeline given in the court record. Her ex-husband stalked her with the help of police enforcement before kidnapping her and her two kids from a domestic violence shelter in New York. The timeline also mentioned that her children had been missing since 2019 and had not been found.

The chronology did not include Johnson by name. The defendants in the case were allegedly involved in a conspiracy to abduct Johnson and her children, according to a statement of facts at the opening of the lawsuit that did not specifically name Johnson.

The Legal Information Institute at Cornell Law School defines a conspiracy as “an agreement between two or more people to commit an illegal act, along with an intent to achieve the agreement’s goal.” In most U.S. jurisdictions, an overt act, or an action that clearly demonstrates that someone has committed a crime, is also necessary to establish conspiracy.

Claims Made About Johnson Related To The Lawsuit

The TikTok mentioned earlier also had a video that allegedly showed Johnson appearing on “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) and announcing that he had made a “child molesting robot.” Additionally, in an interview, Johnson was alleged to have claimed that he “ate children” by TikTok. Another TiKTok also referred to the SNL skit and the court case.

The “Saturday Night Live” skit “World’s Most Evil Invention” featuring Johnson did indeed air on May 20, 2017. In the sketch, he portrayed Roy, a mad scientist who built a child-abusing robot. The second allegation was based on an interview in 2018 to promote his film “Skyscraper” with its director, Rawson Marshall Thurber, Indonesian entertainer Deddy Corbuzier, and his son.

According to The Jakarta News, Corbuzier enquired about Johnson’s secret after observing his enormous body. You must check out the related news about Ed Sheeran Lawsuit For Allegedly Copying Marvin Gaye

In a post titled “Dwayne Johnson Axed From Disney Franchise Amid $3 Billion Lawsuit,” the Disney site Inside the Magic wrote about the complaint. It connected it to the rumor that Johnson wouldn’t join the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. The case has nothing to do with Johnson’s possible participation or lack thereof, and there is no proof that Johnson ever joined the franchise in the first place.

If that had occurred, reputable media outlets would have covered it, just as they did in April 2023 when he said he would play Maui again in the live-action version of “Moana,” in addition to being a producer. Additionally, according to Inside the Magic’s blog post, Disney or Johnson did not confirm Johnson’s involvement in the franchise reboot.
