Early in her career, McVie frequently worked with various musicians, such as Spencer Davis, Stan Webb, and Andy Silvester. She founded Chicken Shack with the latter two musicians, and “It’s Okay With Me Baby” served as the group’s debut song.

She stayed with them for a while, but in 1969, after getting married to Fleetwood Mac bassist John McVie, she left. When she formally joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970, the vocalist realized her lifelong goal.

She contributed to the writing of several of the band’s hit songs, including “Don’t Stop,” “Over My Head,” “Little Lies,” “Hold Me,” and “You Make Loving Fun.”

She could still sit down for a Rolling Stone interview before she passed away earlier this year. When she was still a member of Fleetwood Mac, McVie claimed that she had no idea she was the calm in the band’s storm.

She also praised the friendships and character traits of her bandmates. McVie joined the group on its reunion tour before departing in 1998. Thankfully, she came back in 2014 and played with them until 2019.
