Chris Rock To Address Oscars Slapping On Stage!

Will Smith says he is “truly sorry” for hitting Chris Rock at the March Academy Awards. The words “It’s been a minute” were displayed at the beginning of a video Smith uploaded on Friday to his verified Instagram account.

“Over the last few months, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and personal work…,” the statement reads. “You asked many fair questions that I wanted to take some time to answer.”

Smith then enters the frame while sighing, asking the camera why he didn’t apologize to Rock during his Oscars victory speech for his performance in “King Richard,” which won him the award for best actor.

“That point fogged out me,” Smith says. “It’s all fuzzy. I’ve reached out to Chris, and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk, and when he is, he will reach out. So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable, and I’m here whenever you are ready to talk.”

In addition, Smith extends his regrets to Tony Rock, who played the role of Tony Rock in the 2007 comedy “All of Us,” produced by Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

“We had a great relationship,” Smith says. “Tony Rock was my man, and this is probably irreparable.”

Chris Rock was presenting at the Oscars when Smith entered the stage and smacked him after he made a joke about his wife’s shaved head. Alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that can cause hair loss, is the cause of Pinkett Smith’s hair loss. Smith also states in his video that his wife did not ask him to do anything after rolling her eyes at Rock’s joke in response to whether or not she had.

He expresses his regrets to her, their kids, and the other Academy Award nominees in the post. The last three months, according to Smith, have been spent “replaying and understanding the subtlety and complexities of what happened at that moment.”

“I’m not going to try to unpack all of that right now, but I can say to all of you, there is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave at that moment,” he says. “No part of me thinks that is the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect or insults.”

Smith continues by saying it kills him to realize he fell short of people’s expectations of him.

He says, “Disappointing people is my fundamental trauma.” “I hate disappointing people, so it stings,” Smith addresses his fans directly and pledges to “bring light, love, and joy into the globe.”

“If you hang on, I promise we’ll be able to be friends again,” he concludes.

The Academy has sanctioned Smith by prohibiting him from attending the Oscars for the next ten years.
