Celine Dion Fans Protest Outside Rolling Stone Offices After Snub ‘Crime’!

Celine Dion Fans Protest: Until Celine Dion receives justice from Rolling Stone, their hearts will not continue. After the ailing 54-year-old superstar was left off of Rolling Stone’s “200 Greatest Singers of All Time” list, which was released on January 1, more than a dozen ardent followers gathered in front of the magazine’s New York City headquarters on Friday with protest signs — and songs.

Before taking their argument to the streets, her ardent supporters earlier referred to her omission as a “crime against humanity.” Activists supporting the pop hit displayed statements like “We want a recount” and “How can you forget Celine” on some of their homemade signs. She jokingly referred to her “Titanic” mega-hit “My Heart Will Go On” as “Rolling Stone, you’ve hit an iceberg.”

Others, claiming firmly that “Rolling Stone is stoned,” drew a marijuana blunt on their posters honoring the performer previously hailed as “The Greatest Singer in the World” by “Saturday Night Live” and proclaimed “Rolling Stone is stoned.”

Eventually, Rolling Stone dispatched one of its reporters to interact with the vibrant audience. According to the legendary music news source, videos of Dion fans known as the “Red Heads” creating their protest signs can be seen in the stories on an Instagram fan account with more than 10,000 followers.

In a video sent to Rolling Stone’s Twitter, a protester can be heard saying, “We are here to express ourselves in the name of Celine since you made a tremendous error missing her name on the large list you published last week.”

If their happy Instagram stories are any indication, these Dion supporters may set a new record for the most upbeat activists ever. One comment was, however, quite direct: “We hope that Rolling Stone will recognize that they made a mistake,” another supporter argued.

The public display came days after the five-time Grammy winner’s supporters discovered that he or she was not included on the list honoring legendary performers like Freddie Mercury, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and Aretha Franklin. The list included even more recent singers like SZA, Adele, and Taylor Swift, but Dion was left off.

To their defense, Rolling Stone urged readers to remember that this was a list of the greatest singers, not the greatest voices: “Before you start scrolling (and commenting), bear that in mind.”

According to the journal, other considerations were “originality, influence, the breadth of an artist’s musical legacy, and the depth of their repertoire.”

The pop icon, meanwhile, announced in December that she was postponing her future performances after discovering she had a neurological condition that renders people into “human statues.” In a tearful Instagram video, the “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” singer announced the news.

In the heartbreaking tape, Dion remarked, “As you know, I’ve always been an open book, and I wasn’t ready to say anything before, but I’m ready now. “I’ve had health issues for a very long time, and it’s been tough to face my difficulties and talk about everything I’ve been through.”

Dion then revealed that she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological condition that affects one in a million people.

According to RareDiseases.org, stiff person syndrome is a “rare acquired neurological condition marked by growing muscle stiffness (rigidity) and recurrent painful muscle spasms.”

If SPS symptoms are not treated, they may worsen to the point where they seriously affect a person’s ability to walk and carry out essential daily duties.

The singer said, “We now know this has been causing all the spasms I’ve been having, even though we’re still learning about this rare ailment. “Unfortunately, these spasms interfere with every area of my everyday life, occasionally making it difficult to walk and preventing me from using my vocal cords to sing as I normally would.”
