After This Weekend, Disney Closes Splash Mountain Rollercoaster!

Splash Mountain will close on a specific day before becoming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disney World. The ride’s next edition, which will close down on Jan. 23, 2023, will draw inspiration from New Orleans culture and “The Princess and the Frog” by Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Disney recently revealed new information about the attractions, including a new scene and creatures. Where the 2009 Disney movie’s plot ended is where the interest picks up.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, “this new scene is the thrilling moment you first drop into the swamp and discover some new and familiar pals.”

The ride billed as a “musical adventure,” picks up where the 2009 movie left off. Visitors will follow beloved characters Princess Tiana and Louis as they get ready for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.

Fireflies “will light up the night and beckon you deeper into the bayou… almost like they’re waving you onward,” according to the concept art provided. Zydeco music, a “unique blend of rhythm and blues that was born in Louisiana, will also be featured in the scene, and when you hear it, you’ll feel like you’ve entered Tiana’s world.”

Must Check:

Before Tiana meets some new pals, “Jazz-loving alligator Louis” will explain to riders where the music is coming from. A group of “cute critters,” including an otter, a rabbit, a raccoon, a turtle, and others, will perform songs and play instruments constructed from items discovered in the bayou. We’ll have to wait and see on that one, Disney teases, “but it feels like they may have a bigger role to play in this plot.”

Riders will also be treated to Zydeco music, a style that incorporates elements from numerous cultures and is representative of the attraction’s general vibe.

It exemplifies the goal we constantly pursue with our attractions: bringing individuals from many backgrounds together through classic Disney tales. This new musical journey gives us a song sheet to put that idea into practice.

Anika Noni Rose as Princess Tiana, Bruno Campos as Prince Naveen, Michael Leon Wooley as Louis, and Jenifer Lewis as Mama Odie will all contribute their voices to the attraction.

The attractions at Disneyland have no set closure date. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is scheduled to debut in both the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort in 2024.
