An 85-year-old Florida woman was killed by an alligator on Monday while walking her dog. The fatal collision happened shortly after noon in the 55+ community of Spanish Lakes Fairways in St. Lucie County, close to Fort Pierce.
Locals told WPTV that when the woman was walking her dog, an alligator seized it. She died while making an attempt to get the dog away from the alligator.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials said the woman who was killed was 85. Her name wasn’t released.
The alligator, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara, was almost 11 feet long. An alligator trapper was dispatched to the scene and was able to capture the reptile and remove it from the area.
